A warehouse will be renovated to house Marin History Museum’s new Music Center. Kao Design Group worked closely with the client group, Academy Studios, Redhorse Constructors, Cronan, and local music makers to develop the concept and vision for this center. The exhibition, performance multi-media theater, and classroom will celebrate Marin’s contribution to Rock music. The museum will offer immersive audio and visual visitor experiences and hands-on educational programs. The theater will record live performances and events by local musicians, and provide an intimate forum for the music makers to teach and share their music knowledge. KDG provided early concept planning support, exploring designs for multiple sites and configurations for this Museum. This design is conceived to encourage local consultants, builders, subcontractors, fabricators, and material producers to contribute and showcase their Marin County expertise.
