Kao Design Group teamed up with Professor Daniel Kammen of UC Berkeley and Dr. Daniel Prull to assess the wind and solar energy potential for Mosquito Island. A weather station was set up and data cross-referenced to establish guidelines for energy generation. This data, combined with topographic, hydrological, geological, and bio resources’ 3-D modeling, informed conceptual site planning, infrastructure layout, and environmental habitat conservation. Details of local micro-environmental factors guided strategies for passively cooled building designs, storm water and irrigation management, and agricultural and landscape concepts and configurations. |
