This Vermont house offers a modern interpretation of the traditional New England barn. The house begins at the intersection of two fieldstone walls, rooting the entry atrium into the site and reaching out to the surrounding landscape. A recycled timber frame structure and curved glue-laminated arches define the double-height living area, and a wood bridge connects the barrel-vaulted living room, dining room, and kitchen to the more private bedroom wing. This allows ample space for the gathering of friends and family, while maintaining a private retreat to a calm master suite. Custom-designed light fixtures, made with laminate wood and fiberglass fabric, wash the walls with light.
